Case Studies Projects
Multi-Story Building
LGS was contracted to evaluate the interior, loadbearing columns of a large, multi-story building. Our finding was that the cast-in-place columns designs had been repeated unmindfully throughout the building. A thorough re-evaluation led us to redesign each column appropriately for their respective loads, creating savings for the owner.
RESULT: 20% REDUCTION IN CONCRETE AND A 40-65% REDUCTION IN REBAR
Office Building
The structural design for a multi-story office building was in place, using cast-in-site concrete for the raft, columns, walls, beams and slabs. Through analysis using advanced 3D finite-element modeling, LGS was able to optimize each element of the reinforced concrete building, integrating considerations for gravity, lateral wind, and seismic loads.
Condominium Building
An LGS client believed that their 5-story residential building design cost was too expensive, and sought an alternative design. LGS was able to find savings by properly sizing the structural members and converting the raft slab to an isolated footer system.
